		<description>It&#039;s the :include =&gt; [...] bit that&#039;s forcing the eager loading of the associations.  Remove it so that the statement reads:

find(:first, :order =&gt; &quot;forum_posts.created_at desc&quot;)

and it&#039;ll lazy load those associations for you.

On a side note, a cleaner implementation could be accomplished using named scopes (Rails 2.0+):

class ForumPost  &quot;forum_posts.created_at desc&quot;
